Library Accessibility Services: Library Accessibility Services

Accessibility Services

Working in collaboration with Student Accessibility Services at Lakehead University and the Accessibility Services at Laurentian University, the Health Sciences Library provides accessible services, resources and facilities to our patrons.

Material Retrieval Assistance:

Library staff can retrieve material from the stacks for pick-up. Whenever possible, we ask that you provide a list of the books or items required in advance to askthelibrary@nosm.ca. Please include your campus location in your email.

Photocopying:

Assistance with photocopying or scanning is available. Please ask at our information desks.

Accessible Formats:

Requests for textbooks or media in accessible formats are filled by Student Accessibility Services at Lakehead University and the Accessibility Services at Laurentian University.

Requests for accessible versions of printed materials from the Library's collection will be completed upon request to askthelibrary@nosm.ca. Please include as much information about the item(s) as possible, including call #s.

Adaptive Technology:

Kurzweil 3000 is installed on a laptop available for loan at each campus. Laptops can be booked in advance or picked-up same day (when available). Contact us for more information.

Facilities:

The Laurentian Campus Library is located on the 1st floor and the Lakehead Campus Library can be reached by elevator. Both campus Libraries are equipped with automated door entry, and barrier free washrooms are located near each location.

It is recommended that patrons with disabilities inform staff at the information desk of their presence and intended location so that assistance can be provided in case of emergency.
