How To Find A Journal Article

A. To retrieve articles through the Health Sciences Library:

1. Select the link for e-Journals under the Resources heading from the Library homepage.

2. Search for the journal title.

3. Following the link to the journal, search for the article by date of publication, volume, and issue number.

In order to access any of the Library’s licensed resources from off-campus, you will be prompted to enter a NOSM username and password. This is issued to all faculty, residents, students & staff of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. This is the same information used to access MyNOSM and WebAdvisor. For additional assistance, consult the Library's e-Resources FAQ.

B. If the article isn't available from NOSM, check in Laurentian and/or Lakehead's collections.

1. To access Lakehead's and Laurentian's collections you can use the Lakehead or Laurenitan link from the Library homepage or below.

For Lakehead's e-journals collection.

For Laurentian's e-journals collection.

2. Click on the E-Journals tab. Search for the journal title.

3. Following the link to the journal, search for the article by date of publication, volume, and issue number.

Like NOSM's licensed collections, you'll be prompted for a NOSM username and password if you are working from home or remotely. Use the same info that you use to access MyNOSM.

C. If you're a NOSM member and unable to access your article through NOSM, Lakehead or Laurentian you can order it for free through Interlibrary Loan under Services on the Library homepage. Once signed up you can sign in right away and order your article using the Blank Request form on the left sidebar of the RACER system. Questions about RACER? See the ILL FAQ page.
