We replaced the main information desk at the Lakehead campus. This new desk was designed to be more accessible to our users, and to improve the workflow for staff. Components are height adjustable, and we were able to match the existing Library furniture. |
Food for Fines allows library users to donate non-perishable food items in exchange for their overdue fines. Each food item equals $2.00 in waived fines. The event is held in April/May to coincide with convocation. This provides an opportunity for students to settle their outstanding library fines prior to graduation. $81.90 was forgiven. |
Alanna Campbell, Public Services Librarian, completed her 6 month sabbatical leave December 31st, and began a 1 year parental leave January 1st. Alanna also presented a poster at the joint Canadian Health Libraries Association (CHLA) & Medical Library Association (MLA) conference titled: "Less shelves, more what? How are the Academic Health Sciences Libraries Choosing to Replace their Shelves"
Sophie M. Regalado, Research Support Librarian, was granted the "Distinguished Member" level from the MLA's Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP). Sophie also accepted the role of Secretary on the CHLA Board of Directors.
Jennifer Dumond, Education Services Librarian, was promoted to Librarian III.
Kaitlin Fuller joined us for a 1 year Librarian contract beginning January 5th.
Hailey Masiero accepted the full-time Administrative Assistant position November 23rd. In May she accepted a promotion to Clinical Placement Coordinator in the Health Sciences and Interprofessional Education Unit of NOSM.
OFF THE SHELF has consistent readership, increasing by 5% this past year. Each newsletter has a mix of topical articles, recurring columns and a contest. In addition to the links on our website, the newsletter is circulated to faculty and learners and shared via the NOSM Pulse.

We launched a new system for reserves to coincide with the academic year start in September. The tool improves the staff workflow for reserves, and provides a greater functionality for students to access their course e-reserves. The tool is an add-on to our Libguides subscription.
