Where to Publish: Article Processing Charges (APCs)

A guide to help you find the right place to publish your research

Article Processing Charges (APC)

Journals that use a Hybrid or Gold Open Access model often charge authors an article processing charge (APC) to make their work openly available. These fees can be substantial—often thousands of dollars—so it’s important to confirm a journal’s APC and ensure you have funding in place before submitting your manuscript.

Not all open access journals charge APCs. Through licensing agreements with CRKN, the NOSM Library provides APC discounts with several major publishers.

If you need help finding journals that fit your budget, visit the Where to Publish LibGuide or use the journal suggestion service.

Below are the discounts and qualifying criteria currently available to NOSM University-affiliated authors. For more information on specific agreements please see the CRKN's Read and Publish Agreements and the CRKN's APC Discounts.
